Got the Anthropologie catalogue and was inspired by the shoe, skirt and mismatched top combos.
Must say it was very comfortable and made me feel like a hipster :)

Decided to mix it up and try the new trend of pairing mismatched prints.
Went wild ( LOL ) with a tiger tank and printed silk scarf.
Also attended an advisory meeting so tried to look fashionably professional.

Race to Erase MS Gala, May 2 2014

Once again I had the extreme good fortune to be invited to the annual Erase MS Gala
hosted by Nancy Davis at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in LA

This is my posse for the night.

Tommy Hilfiger
The event is an amazing good time with celebrities,

Lonnie Anderson with granddaugthers

a giant silent auction with hundreds of items
( I was the winning bid on some Oakley sunglasses :),

and hundreds of people fill the ballroom for the dinner

performances by CeeLo Green, Natalie Cole and Steven Tyler !

And the most epic goodie bag imaginable

I am one glad guest every year when I get the invite to Race to Erase MS from my dear friend.

May 1, 2014 Saddleback College Fashion Show

Tonight was the annual Saddleback College Fashion Show...

there was lots of fashion,

and more fashion,

 some over-the-top fashion

some over-the-top modeling…

okay, actually quite a lot of over-the-top.

And then many well deserving winners of cash and awards.

Luckily I snapped this selfie on my way in because it was a busy, busy event.

And I introduced another of my original chapeaus to the public.
My own personal fashion show.
hehehehehehehe

April 30, 2014

I totally love how easy it is to slip on a dress…
A few years ago I made this great shirtdress out of the softest corduroy imaginable.
Should definitely make a couple more.

Gold bangle bling

April 29, 2014

Well, I loved and lost these cool pants.
There is a unique double row of black stitching down the center front of each leg
and after wearing them tonight for the first time there is now a small hole in the right knee :(
Total bummer.

New black leather sandals from Marshals in San Francisco
Various silver bling bangles
Weird beaded necklace I purchased in Berlin, Germany

April 26, 2014 OR 1940???

Time travel alert!
As a new member of the Costume Guild West
I knew it was inevitable that dressing from a past era would become necessary.
I selected the 1940s

The event was a wonderful tea party and these ladies really know how to dress up!

Some of the outfits were real vintage clothing and hats.
Wonder if my mom saved anything from the 1950s….

Guests shared stories and personal anecdotes,

shared costuming tips and suppliers,

heck, they even shared what was under their lovely period dresses.

The tea party was in honor of Mela Hoyt-Heydon
who is a very busy, prolific costumer AND milliner.
Also, a really delightful person to meet.

These are the 1940 style accessories I already own ( I made the cloche hat in a hat class a few years ago ) that influenced my decision to sew a 1940s dress.

The only serious flop was my hair-do that was AWFUL.
But, I still had a great time.
