February 26, 2013

Another too much to-do Tuesday and I'm feeling fashion forward. The photo doesn't show it but, under my bright floral sweater my blouse is green with white pin stripes.
A bold mix by a bold woman. LOL

Green bead bracelet gift from student who visited Hawaii
Gold hoops gift from girlies
Gold peridot stone ring given to me by my maternal grandma when I was about 10

February 25, 2013

Hubster and I had every intention of being productive, responsible adults on Sunday, February 24 but by noon we decided to ditch the chores and celebrate our anniversary ( which is Feb 25 ). We zoomed off to our favorite restaurant in the world, run by brothers we've known for 28 years and the food is absolutely the best!!

A delicious champagne dinner,

A tasty desert and the day was perfect.
Of course we did do a little shopping before dinner and hubster tried to buy me a beautiful Coach purse  but, I am in a funk and cannot commit to ANY purchases.
And the celebration will be continued next weekend in San Francisco, which is where we tried desperately to be this weekend but, our schedules just wouldn't work.

This beautiful, perfect, great smelling bouquet was delivered to me today from my gorgeous hubster.
ps. the delivery girl took my picture with the bouquet for Facebook ( !! ) I hope I'm not tagged because I had just returned from pilates and was a wreck! But who can say no to a photo op :)

February 22, 2013

This is the week that wouldn't end!
Today my late start classes began so I am at work three days a week trying to look fashionable, age appropriate, groomed and tidy ( left in my natural state I am pretty slobbish ).
And I am battling a terrible cold.

February 21, 2013

This is my two hour casual day teaching. My top is new and it's really neat; it's lace over striped t-shirt and then a cut out design sewn on top. However it is also sleeveless so I had to wear a little knit bolero sweater and a scarf ( it was also cold ).

Beautiful new deep blue scarf from favorite resale store
Blue lapis bead bracelet from same resale store
Silver bangles from misc
Steel hoops from mall silver store

Of course I couldn't resist my fun fringed scarf:)

February 19, 2013

Today I had a date with Kermit the frog ( "it ain't easy being green"). Actually I had meetings and class and work and such that I didn't have a free minute from 10am to 10pm.
And of course it poured rain the ENTIRE day.

Accessory Close-up
Green leather boots from Off Saks Fifth Ave in Las Vegas, NV
New colorful plastic bangles from Bowers Museum gift store Santa Ana, CA
Steel triple stack ring from Borrega Springs gift store.
Diamond hoops gift from hubster

February 17, 2013

Egads, there was a rain cloud in the sky so we jumped in the car and headed to the desert... Palm Springs to be exact.
The desert was a BEAUTIFUL 81 degrees and at our normal pit stop at the 'ghost town' of Borrega Springs it was bustling with bicyclists (!) and tourists. This was so weird because part of what I like best about Borrega Springs is that it is unpopulated.
I bought a bell that makes a lovely chime.

Accessory Close-up
Beautiful purple pashima scarf/wrap from I don't remember
Favorite old leather sandals from I don't even remember buying
Silver ring with bezel set purple glass that I made
Bling package of bracelets, watch, earrings all gifts from hubster

February 15, 2013

Today was not just a Friday, it was a Fun-day!
Met up at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana with an old pal whom I see WAY too seldom.
Our intention was to see the fabulous costume exhibit...

But first I had us detour 2 blocks to the Bowers Children Museum because I thought they were having a drawing lesson. No drawing lesson but, we managed to have some laughs wearing the numerous props.

We finally made our way back to the Costume collection at the Bowers. The collection is from Cosprop in London which is apparently a giant source of period costumes for all major film studios. The Bower exhibit has 43 costumes that were worn by 30 different actors in 25 various films.
The exhibit ends March 10 and I highly recommend it.

After the exhibit a yummy lunch at the museum restaurant...

A beautiful gift of an original drawing by my so very, very talented and ridiculously modest friend...
Thank you TD

And more silly fun at the Santa Ana Artists Village just down the street from the museum.

A day with a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, a little culture, a little adventure and a little sad...
my dear friend is moving out of state.

Goal: look trendy ( stripe top with animal print shoes )
fashionable ( ankle length trousers )

February 5, 2013

I think I am in a fashion drought. I just can't seem to put together any interesting, original looks! Seriously, I am wearing a denim skirt...it's just sad.

Accessory Close-up
Favorite brown leather boots from Aldo
Silver bangle from forever
Steel hoops from mall store
Silver rings from Silpada and Marriott Hotel on Maui

I really like this necklace. It is porcelain beads with an intricate design glazed onto the clay. I over-paid for it from a sidewalk vendor in front of Neiman Marcus in Union Square, San Francisco.

DAY THREE (!)

Oops, we were supposed to arrive home yesterday but, in the middle of the pitch black desert evening sky we drove over a rock...apparently a very strong rock.

Made it to Barstow on the "run flat tire", spent the night, and in the morning discovered high performance vehicles DO NOT have any spare tires!

Tried to reach the dealer in Ontario but, the run flat tire was done running.
An interesting end to an otherwise throughly enjoyable road trip.

DAY TWO

We left St George, Utah and drove through Zion National Park. Everywhere you looked the views were incredible!

Accessory Close-up
Obviously Mother Nature out shone anything a mere mortal could do!

Back side of Zion we hit some serious snow and weather looked threatening.

After the canyons and cliffs of Zion and the snow of northern Arizona, we finally entered the Painted Desert and again the scenery is indescribably beautiful.

This is the goofiest picture EVER but, hubster did manage to FINALLY capture me mid-air!

DAY ONE

Since I barely saw my hubster last weekend we decided to spend this weekend doing what we like best...
Road Trip!
Destination: St George, Utah

Accessory Close-up
The landscape is full of beautiful church steeples in Utah and did not see one single liquor store OR bar.
